What is PWGreen?
PWGreen is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization focused on the preservation of the natural environment and the promotion of environment based learning in the local schools.
Who are the members of PWGreen?
We are your friends and neighbors who are working together to protect our Port Washington environment. Inspired by nature and the diversity of life on the North Shore of Long Island, we strive to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive and flourish. We believe that wild, natural places improve the quality of life for all who live here.
How do we accomplish this?
By working with the PW School District Superintendent to enhance and leverage the Guggenheim property's environmental and educational value.
By sponsoring educational events, such as guided walks and lectures.
By participating in community events to help make the community more aware of our local environment and how to protect it.
By working with teachers to create environment based learning programs.
By establishing a advisory board of recognized experts in the areas of ecology, botany, and ornithology.
When and Where do we meet?
Our meetings are open to the public and held usually once a month in the Port Washington Library.
